Brick is one of the oldest building materials. In composition and technology it is divided into ceramic, dry pressing, silicate, acid-resistant, firebrick. Ceramic (red) bricks – traditional, well-known and probably the most common building material.

Vibro bricks has some significant differences from traditional masonry materials composition and properties. It is made by dry pressing (as silicate), in contrast to conventional ceramic – simplified scheme of the preparation of the raw mix. Compared to silicate mixes brick has high strength and moisture resistance.

Thanks to the use of cement binder, when the steam treatment reaction of formation of conglomerates proceeds differently than in the production of silicate products, which leads to the formation of a more robust structure. In addition, when semi-dry pressing decreases the water content in the molding sand and, consequently, decreases the porosity, water absorption and increases mark on frost resistance. The product range of the domestic ceramic plants producing brick, not too big. While the largest share of manufactured products (about 70%) are in the ordinary (ordinary) construction brick. Natural color ceramic bricks varies from light red to brown, due to the presence of iron oxides. Construction of this brick have unattractive appearance and require further plastering or coating of the facing material. Thanks to the technological peculiarities of production of the front side of the decorative bricks has several types of textures.

Manufactured brick contains 8-15% technological voids (less than 13% according to GOST 530-95), has a density of about 1600 kg/m3 and ensures maximum durability of the brickwork. Along with full-bodied is produced in a so-called hollow (effective) brick with a through (or not through) round or rectangular (slit-like) openings. The content of the technological voids in this case is at the level of 20-45%, which significantly reduces the weight and thermal conductivity of brick (compared to a full-bodied), allowing to reduce the thickness of the exterior walls, preserving their insulating properties. But the voidness of bricks can't be increased indefinitely – it will lose the strength properties. Hollow brick used for installation of exterior walls with high heat-insulating ability.
