Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is an exothermic chemical process occurring in avtovolnovye mode type of combustion and leading to the formation of solid products.

SVS is a mode of exothermic reactions, where heat generation is localized in a narrow layer and is transmitted from layer to layer by heat transfer, called "solid flame".

"Solid flame" provides valuable and refractory metals and materials.

Technology

The advantage of the SVS technology is incorporated in the principle — using heat released from chemical reactions instead of heat a substance from an external source, so SVS processes successfully compete with the traditional energy-intensive technologies.
