THE GREENLIGHT BULB

Project description

Our company mission is to supply cheap, clean and affordable solar power to the thousands of rural homes by championing the use of sunenrgy to light.

Additional information

Our company mission is to supply cheap, clean and affordable solar power to the thousands of rural, off-grid households by eradicate the use of kerosene lamps and assist families embrace solar light for home use.

Our company ensures that solar energy has been integrated into homes more efficiently and economically, to reduce energy bills, to provide greater supply reliability, and to provide clean energy for mankind.

At this time, many households and commercial real estate developers are ready to switch from depending on Hydroelectricity and embrace the solar panel as a source of power. We are confident that the competitive cost of our system and the superior operating capacities that it provides will quickly make it a leading product in the renewable energy marketplace.

Market analytics

The uptake of solar power in Africa has been due to several factors such as cheaper technology for solar panels, abundant supply of panels, over-reliance and costliness of fossil fuels and the unstable nature of both hydro and wind power generation therefore solar power is now Africa’s next frontier for Renewable Energy.

Actually, Africa is the world leader in the number of solar power systems installed per capita. More Africans are now turning to solar power every year rather than make connections to the continent’s electric grid. This is due to a number of challenges that one faces when connecting to the national grid the first and foremost being costs of such a setup and also the high cost of buying power from Africa Power.

The increase in solar power installations has necessitated the need to enact regulations in the sector. In 2012, there was the enactment of the Energy (Solar Photovoltaic Systems) Regulations (the Consumer protection measure to ensure that low quality solar products as well as poorly trained or unqualified technicians do not infiltrate the market. The Regulations require that all persons designing and installing solar PV, all manufacturers, vendors, distributors and contractors of solar PV systems shall be licensed by the ERC. Further, vendors and contractors are to be held liable for any faults in the design and specifications of complete solar PV systems, except in situations where customers purchase individual system components from different vendors, in which case the customers shall indicate in the signed system design declaration form that they did not require the said design or specifications from the vendor or contractors. A list of licensed technicians and contractors is provided on the ERC website.

Solar utilization in the continent is mainly for photovoltaic systems which are used for telecommunications, lighting and cathodic protection of pipelines. Solar power is also used in drying and water heating. Furthermore we have seen more and more factories install solar panels on their rooftops to counter against, the cost of buying power from the grid and also mitigating against the instability of the grid since power outages are a regular feature of the African industrial and residential landscape. We have also seen an appetite for solar products from remote high end — exclusive game lodges. As compared to an expensive diesel powered generator that causes disturbances in Africa’s game parks, a solar powered plant would be the exact opposite and not affect the lodge’s operations.

The African Government has played a big role in advancement of the use of solar energy. It has removed import duty and zero-rated Value Added Tax (VAT) for renewable energy equipment and accessories. Further, its aim is to keep on increasing the factors of production. A study done by ERC in 2015, estimated the total megawatts (MWp) produced in the solar sector to be over 20 with an expected growth of 15% annually. The Africa Government aim is to have the sector produce 600 MWpby 2030. To attain this goal it has launched several projects across the continent.

The uniqueness of the project

Our Solar Power panels are the best in the market they absorb much sunlight and giving value for money .

After sales service is the key selling point.Free installation and up to 3 year Guaranty on all our accessories.

Marketing and PR must has been incorporated into our startup culture to make sure the community is talking up the company to everyone we meet and ingesting ideas about Kahill acres of lifestyle solar power.

Monetization sources

Referral marketing.New client being refereed by exciting customer.

Solar energy workshop.

By online and print advertising.

Sales strategy and marketing

The subscription revenue model entails offering our customers a product that customers can pay for over a longer period of time, usually month to month basis. Subscriptions allow us as a company to plan resources and predict revenue.

The subscription model is also not about getting a project done and then moving on to the next client. It allows us as a service provider to grow a relationship with the client and cater to their needs as they change.

Our growth rate we shall be targeting 50 household per month hopefully our marketing strategy will bear the result we are expecting. We are Committing our advertising to educating the customer about the cost savings inherent in solar.

We will tap into the power of community. When we are on site to do solar in a neighborhood, we shall talk to the neighbours and leave flyers. Ask our customer to refer us to their neighbours
